F O U R T E E N Happy birthday to my first baby! F O U R T E E N Happy birthday to my first baby! You took your sweet time coming into this world (thanks for those 30 hours of labor!), but you’ve made a big splash in our lives since! It’s hard for me to look at you and not see that little baby who loved snuggling next to my heartbeat. Or seeing the 4 year old stuttering sweetie who couldn’t talk as fast as his brain was thinking. Or seeing that 7 year old boy giddy to snuggle and take care of his new twin siblings. Or seeing the 10 year old kid coming into his own hilarious personality. But 14 will be amazing too. And years down the road, I will look back and see you as the 14 year old kid who set huge goals for himself, did almost anything he sat his mind to, who quietly prayed for friends who were heavily burdened on his heart, who found ways to entertain his little brother and sister, and who still found the time to hug mom and dad. ❤️ Happy birthday, Cooper James!

I’m floored by how fast summer has gone by. It’s been one thing after another all summer. We’ve celebrated with each other and grieved with friends and others around us. I don’t understand it all, but I’m learning to be grateful for the few quiet days—or just moments the Lord has given us as a family among all the busy-ness. For the sparks of joy that squeeze in the middle of sadness. Thank you, Lord, for quiet moments to remind us to be still and soak up your creation and your blessings and to remind us that you are still in control no matter the circumstances.
