What are decodable readers?

Decodable passages and decodable readers are texts where the majority of the words are decodable–or can be sounded out. In these decodable texts, 80-90% of the words are decodable… either using the focus sound for the text or previous sounds already taught. The remaining 10-20% of the words are heart words or sight words that have been previously introduced or are introduced with the current text.

The pacing for these decodable texts aligns with the science of reading and with my First Grade Super Phonics Curriculum.
